McArthur Ridge Southern Tor Pinot Noir 2010
**5-Stars, "outstanding quality showing varietal purity and exemplifying regional type" - wineorbit.co.nz**
A bold crimson colour, beautiful nose evoking crushed summer berries with a hint of vanillin oak. Bright, generous welcoming red berries in the mouth, clean, very pure, with a lingering warm finish. Fantastic value for this highly awarded wine.
Gold - International Wine and Spirit Competition (London)
Silver - Bragato Wine Awards, Decanter World Wine Awards
Pure Silver - Air NZ Wine Awards
McArthur Ridge Southern Tor 2010 has a bright crimson colour with a purple hue. The nose exhibits hints of red cherry plum, strawberries, raspberries and the famous wild herbs of Central Otago Pinot Noir. The palate is characterised by lush summer berry fruits and integrated oak, the tannins are smooth, well balanced and mouth-filling.
The 2010 vintage was a later than normal vintage due to a long cool growing season.
The grapes were harvested by both hand and mechanical harvester. They were then fermented in batches depending on clone and block, and hand plunged to extract the delicate flavours and nuances from the grapes. These individual batches were then aged in a mixture of French Oak barriques and stainless steel tanks before being blended and bottled in early 2011.
